GridPlus Update: February 7, 2020
This past month the the Austin headquarters began to fill up with production Lattice1s and the GridPlus team forged ahead on finalizing our firmware and creating a new web wallet for easy access to all of the Lattice1’s features from any connected device. Let’s dig in!
Firmware Progress
In the past few updates we have been checking off the remaining development milestones on our path to shipping this spring. The firmware team made fantastic progress in January and we are now moving on to focus on the user interface and testing.

- ̶W̶e̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶e̶f̶a̶c̶t̶o̶r̶ ̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶v̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶p̶a̶i̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶a̶g̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶f̶o̶r̶m̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶n̶g̶e̶s̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶v̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶m̶w̶a̶r̶e̶.̶
- Additional system screens and elements of the user interface need to be built out.
- Firmware stress testing and revisions to completed functionality will continue throughout the completion of the above tasks.
With this core functionality complete, the primary work remaining involves how you as a user interact with the Lattice1: building out screens that guide you through the steps and options for each process to ensure that you can use its powerful features intuitively.
Alex Miller continues to flow through changes to the software side and as well as the SDK in anticipation of external integrations.
Web Wallet
In January, Alex put together a new web wallet that interfaces with the Lattice1 via WiFi. This will be the best way to utilize all of the hardware’s features on day one. The web wallet is secure and lightweight enough to allow rapid iteration once users begin providing feedback on their experiences and we regularly update and integrate new features.
The secure interface connects to your Lattice1 with a DeviceID and password and then provides live updates from the device. For example, if you insert a SafeCard you’ll have instant access to the assets on its cold storage in addition to the addresses derived from the keys stored on the Lattice1 itself.
We’re really excited about the addition of the web wallet to the list of ways you can use the Lattice1 because it lets us quickly and easily roll out new features and improvements.
GridPlus Energy
The energy team is working to expand our customer base across multiple traditional and crypto market segments in 2020. We were pleasantly surprised at the large amount of signups received at launch from our rates alone —since then we’ve used our pricing as a means of ensuring steady and manageable growth. Now our energy team is expanding and we’re ready to pick up the pace. As of writing, we have the best rates available for contracts of two years or longer on Power To Choose, the most popular comparison shopping site for Texans looking for new plans.
Prepaid plans open up new possibilities for us as well. We have successfully tested our prepaid plan portal and back-end with a limited number of live customers and are ready for a wider launch pending integration of a firm that will simplify taking cash payments.
